I've applied for a receiver to be the first (?) to support OSN. What hardware could I expect to be dealing with?

Thanks for your application. Currently we ship mostly Raspberry Pis with RTLSDR dongles. There are two receivers registered in New Zealand, one near Auckland and the other in Palmerston North, close to your application. Anyway, both have stopped sending data to our network quite a while ago, so practically you would be the only one :-)
