Historical Data Access for Aircraft State Data

Hi, 
I have been using the API to try and access aircraft state data, but I was confused about how much historical access is possible. Is there any way to use the API to get the state data of an aircraft for a short interval of time that occurred a few months ago? Or can I only do that directly with the historical data? 

Also, I submitted an application for access to the historical data. Once I have that, is it possible to access that data through the API? Thanks!

I just checked my spam folders but unfortunately I could not find it. Did you send it to my work email? That email seems to completely block out everything sent by OpenSky—nothing makes it to my inbox or spam or anything. Would it be possible for you to send it to me again through my personal email?
