Regarding validation of Chennai FIR (India) data

5 years 1 month ago #921 by malini_krishnan
Hi,

I am a research student.

I understand the coverage of open sky network is better in USA and Europe. Could someone tell me, how accurate/approximate is the data for Chennai (FIR), India region - both continental and oceanic? I am trying to get a count of number of aircrafts in a given hour to start with and also would like to know what is the oldest time period (3 months or 6 months etc) for which archived data is available for this region?

Thanks & Regards,
Mala

Hi Mala,

You can roughly check all this yourself here under coverage: opensky-network.org/network/facts

If you want to dig in deep, you have to request access here with your university affiliation: opensky-network.org/data/apply

Best,
Martin
