Visualization Tool for OpenSky JSON: ATSDB

5 years 9 months ago - 5 years 9 months ago #686 by eskay187
I wanted to give notice about a tool I have been developing over the last years, which I recently extended to be able to import/analyse/visualize OpenSky JSON data.

If you are interested, you can find the project page at: github.com/hpuhr/ATSDB

I also created a few introduction videos to show the first steps in ATSDB in a more convenient manner:
Installation, Import & OSGView:

Labeling, Highlighting and Filtering:

Please note that the tool currently only works on Linux platforms, and I have provided an AppImage for easy installation.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me under the mail address listed at the project site but I'll also watch this thread for some time.

Just a quick comment on how to import OpenSky data:
  1. Install the ATSDB tool and open it as described in the manual
  2. Either conntect to a MySQL DB or create a SQLite DB by clicking on "New" below the "File Selection" pane
  3. Click "Connect" (MySQL) or "Open" (SQLite)
  4. Now the menu item "Task" is available -> click "Import JSON data"
  5. Add the extracted JSON file downloaded here
  6. Click import
  7. After the import process has finished, go back to the main window and click "Start" in the bottom right corner

Thanks guys.

By the way I do feature requests if they are reasonable and fit into my plan for the project. My next step will be to add ASTERIX decoding (not very interesting for you guys), but the next ones will be view-related. So if you have any suggestions let me know.
