High filtered messages rate, low message count

3 years 3 months ago #460 by gidig
I've read that opensky is applying advanced filtering algorithms but what's wrong here with this station's high amount of filtered messages?

What can I do to improve the performance of the station.

Config is:
Raspi 3, Raspian Stretch, dump1090-fa, FA Prostick and FA Prostick Antenna, Gain @43.9 (max messages/positions/AC)
A second Raspi3 with same SW but with an RTL-SDR and LNA has 0% filtering and nice message rate (but also no Mode-A/C messages).

the other stats block in the log look similar (for filtering values).

Hi gidig,
the stats are a bit confusing, I should maybe refactor them in future versions.
About your question: we either only forward DF 17+18 or all Mode-S messages. This is individually configured by the server when connecting.
Obviously, we only request DF 17+18 from your station: df17+df18=all-filtered: 426195+1739=4929081-4501147.

I don't know what should be the default right now (I thought we request all messages from all receivers meanwhile), so I'll have a talk with the ones responsible because it might point out a misconfiguration of the server.

Can I do something from my side?
